According to Haynes / various net sites:
- US model engines run low CO
- they have smaller jets in carbs
- air screws are sealed
- they MIGHT have cat in downpipes
- milder camshafts in CA models, lost evaporation system
- carb rubber throats MIGHT be strangled.

My bike has been imported from CA, it is a `95 Speed Triple with Mikuni carbs. I suppose it has those "specialties" in. And now I`m putting it to Euro tune. I have already taken evaporation system off from the bike.

Next thing to do is probably to take the carbs off and check jet sizes and needle positions and get them in order. In the same time I`ll see those carb rubber throats.

Looks like I`m getting whole cylinder head including cams from Germany so I can take cams from that.. or get it blueprinted+ported and change whole head..

How the air screws are sealed? Can they easily be released without major catastrophe?

Is there CAT in exhaust?

Anything other?

I would find it very hard to believe a CA Speed Triple would have Cats, weak cams, or restricted intakes. The only difference I would expect to find between a CA model and the 49 states would be the carbon absorption canister and hosing.

I was told that if the restricted rubbers were fitted, you could tell because of telltale dimples on the exterior. But I've only heard of those being fitted to early Thunderbirds.

Certainly US models are set at lower CO but the seals are easily removed.
