Does anyone have recommendations/experiences to share (pro and con) for a shop to mount and balance carry-in tires, specifically in the LA/Orange county area?

I'm taking the wheels off myself.

TIA!

CYCLE GEAR is a rip off.......at least the one in Lomita is! Carry in tires (that they didn't sell you) $30.00 EA! mount and balance. Called back a few days later after I mounted the tires with my buddies Auto tire changer, (yes they are 98% the same machine Cycle Gear was going to use) Price for BALANCE ONLY carry in...........$30.00 EA!!!!!! 'F' them and that goes for any other product I might need! Last time I went to Pacific Yanaha and they took off the old ones, disposed of them mounted and balanced them for $30.00 for BOTH tires. Cycle Gear can go.....well you know!

That one is a rip off then. I have been to the one in Escondido and it was 30 for both, and the one in Canoga Park and they charged 30 for both.

HHMMM, Might be worth a visit then. The girl on the phone sounded like she was in high school. She could have it wrong and not even know the difference between mount and balance and just a balance. But she did ASK if I bought the tires there BEFORE she quoted me the price on just the balance! Not that I care anymore as the Yamaha dealer quoted me $6.00 for just the balance!

I hate these outfits that feel they need to 'punish you' for getting a better deal than they can offer. I understand they are there to make a profit, but gouging someone because they found a better price is just unacceptable in my book. If they treated you fairly instead I think they would make more money on the next or the related sale.

Yeah, I asked the guy at the Canoga store how much it would be if I brought in my tires and he said the same price. I bought the tires from there because they were the same price as if I bought them online somewhere and shipped.

Just a note, if you buy the tire from them, they come with a road hazard service thing, If you puncture the tire, if it is new, you get a free tire. If it is 75% tread, then you pay I think just 25% of the tire, and more as you go down in tread.Prorated. But you will have to pay for mount and balance wich is the 15 per tire. SO just get to 50% tread, throw a nail in your way and pay 1/2 the price for a new tire.

Thats a great deal. Flats aren't exactly a rare occurance, and as expensive as they are it's a huge loss if you flat one soon after it's new. Figure Close to $200 for a rear the size of a sppedy with install and balance. And since most people don't want to chance riding on a repair, thats a $200 loss. I'm definatly going to check out the one in newhall when i need one

If anyone is in the Ventura, Ca area---we have two GREAT tire sources that offer free mount and balance (you carry the wheel in) and prices that from what I have found will be on-line prices.

The shops are Cal Coast Motor Sports.

The other is Motorcycles 101. At motorcycles 101 be sure to ask for Tim---tell him Kel suggest him as a supplier.

Happy trails kel

Anyone living in San Fernando Vally or adjacent and in need of a mechanic, call Greg, He has done a ton of work for me,, always does more than he says he needed to do,,and always cost less than he quoted, he used to work out of his garage, but has gotten too big for it and now has a shop in reseda, he has even once dropped my bike off at my house while I was working because he knew I needed it for the next day Really a stand up guy, and i would trust him to do anything for me on my bike

His # is 818-921-9151
