Ok guys, give me some opinions on what is the best way to clean an X ring chain? :???:

Kerosene and a toothbrush. Towel dry, and lube.

Definitely Kerosene.....this brush is a great help too in case you don't have any old toothbrushes around.

WD-40 and a toothbrush before washing the bike, no cavities yet on my chain.

WD/40 is not recommended because it can get past the o/x ring and remove the grease, and might not be good for the rubber, too.

I soak mine in a old coffee can in kerosene over night as the guys are saying then clean it up with a scrub brush rerinse it in the krosene then soak it in oil wipe it down put it back on & your ready to go.

I use Bel-Ray SuperClean lube and the chain does not really look too dirty with 6400 miles on it. Cleaning it sounds like a major PITA and I never did it on any of my previous bikes. I could be wrong, but I thought I read where some got 15K or more out of an uncleaned chain. Sounds good to me if true.

I've been using the same. Dirt just doesn't accumulate as the lube forms a dry, protective coating on the chain. Doesn't sling off and make a mess of things like other lubes.
