I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A ROCKET III, AND BEGAN ADDING ON-- JARDINE EXHAUST 3 TO 1 TO 2 WITH A POWER COMMANDER. THIS WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER WHERE THE PURCHASE WAS MADE. SINCE INSTALLATION MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS BEEN STEADILY DROPPING. WHEN DOING A COLD START IT ONLY FIRES ON ONE (APPEARS TO) UNTIL I REACH ABOUT 45MPH. TODAY TALKED TO ANOTHER TECH MAN AND HE HAD ME TO REMOVE THE POWER COMMANDER --I DID -- NOW THE BIKE SEEMS NORMAL DRIVING ABOUT 25 MILES --NO CUT OUTS AND SMOOTH IDLING PREVAIL . IF YOU WERE ME WHAT WOULD DO? : OLETIMER

Try posting this on the rocket 3 forum here. Many of the riders there has the same set up as you.

I'd remove the powercommander and be happy with stock...not like stock power on a Rocket is something in desperate need of "fixing".
The powercommander acts to enhance performance by modifying the ECM's signals downstream, which can play havoc with sensors signalling for a certain response, then receiving another. A drop in mileage is expected since the PC richens the mixture pretty much across the board. However, your bike should run "okay" with it, so it sounds like the map loaded into it isn't right for your bike.
I'd yank it, get my money back, and wait with baited breath for Tuneboy software for the Rocket to arrive.

I also have jardine headers on my rocket along with power commander. My bike ran rich also so my dealer used a lap top and some program he had to reduce fuel by 10% below 3000 rpms. This worked but,i felt that after taking a close look at the airbox, its a wonder that the thing ran at all.Thats when we opened up the airbox in the bottom with a dozen or so holes and added a k&n filter.after we got the motor where it could get enough air to run,we added back the 10% fuel reduction we put in and the bike is a screamer. It will pull the front wheel in first and carry it till second before it comes down. This bad boy will get your attention.

Oletimer,
The PC-III usually comes programmed to work with the stock Triumph mapping, #20050. If you were running the #20054 mapping (Triumph off road mufflers/Cat delete option) which also works fine with the Jardine set-up and then added the PC-III, I would think you would have problems such as you describe.
I've only heard rode with one Rocket III with the Jardines and the 20054 tune, but his ran great with virtually no popping. No PC-III required.

I do run the PC-III with my TORs/cat delete option. I have the stock #20050 mapping and the PC-III mapping installed for my set-up. The only reason I went with the PC-III is because my dealer is too far away and I would need to leave my bike there and go back to pick it up. With the price of gas plus dealer charges, I could get the PC-III for almost the same price.. hahaha.
