Has anyone had a problem with the front and rear sprockets being out of alignment as in side shift? I replaced my rear sprocket last weekend and the inside surface was worn by the chain side links. After installing the new sprocket and aligning the wheel I discovered the rear sprocket was about .090" offset from the front one. I shimmed the sprocket out with precision hardened spacers .060" and can't go any further without hitting inside of swing arm but still have a slight misalignment. Do I need to look into the front sprocket mounting? I thought the front sprocket was reversible?

Leave the front sprocket alone! Its position is fixed. The rear sprocket can be put out of line by incorrect wheel alignment. Check this first. Has the bike been in an accident? How did you accurately measure 0.090" over the sprocket centres?
You say the rear sprocket is worn on the INSIDE. Shimming the front sprocket outwards will make the problem worse.

Thanks for the response.

I shimmed the rear sprocket outward. The axle alignment marks are about 1/2 mark off on my bike. I measured the sprocket misalignment using a tool maker's straight edge placed along side the rear sprocket and extended forward as far as possible towards the front sprocket. To align the rear sprocket with the front I would have the rear wheel in so crooked that I could have passed myself without leaning  . I have been riding and monitoring the wear on the new rear sprocket and all is working fine.
