I don't want to beat the oil filter thing to death, but in reference to Fram in particular and a comment earlier in the thread that they looked cheap -

In 1994-95 I was road racing a Kwacker EX500, and ran a Fram spin on filter. I was informed by my racing organization that Fram brand in particular oil filter had been banned from use in competition. What had happened is that Fram had moved moto filter production off-shore and the filter housing - outer shell - would seperate from the main filter. It had happened in a race resulting in fatalities. They were banned by every racing sanctioning body I know. I haven't used Fram since.

Now, just 2-3 weeks ago, a friend of mine got a new(uesd) bike and did the oil change. I noticed he used a Fram and was about to tell him about it when I noticed the "Made in USA" label on it. So, I guess they are making them back here now. Anyway, I would not use a Fram filter made outside the USA, though it seems some production has returned.

Just thought I'd put the information out there. I still don't trust 'em though for bikes.

Triumph use Nissin brakes across the range and the levers are supplied by Nissin (who also supply the same to Kawasaki). The speed Triple lever would fit your TBS but the clutch lever wont as the Speed Triple (well the 955 triple) uses a cable operated clutch.

When it comes to the gear shift and rear brake lever, yes these are Triumph OEM parts, and you wont find them on any other makes.

HTH
A buddy of mine (S3) and I S4 are planning a track day and are getting together a bundle of goodies in case one of us goes down.

Are the clutch and brake levers interchangable between the two bikes? And if so that would mean we could just buy a set of Kawi ones... yes?

Since my TBS is ready for brake pads I decided to do a little research about the brakes. I found this chart on the EBC website. It gives a list of other bikes that use the same pads. It's likely that one or more of the bikes on this list uses the same calipers.

Here's a pdf that gives a list of those bikes

<a href=http://homepage.mac.com/dennyhenderson/FA196datasheet.pdf>
PDF with list</a>

I know someone who has one of the v twin 750's on this list. So I'd like to hear from othere who can put their eyes on some of these models.

Cheers,
Denny

I fitted Suzuki Hayabusa brake calipers to my Trophy, I am very pleased!

They just bolt on, I have been using the stock Triumph master cylinder without any issue.

96 Speed Triple fork seals. genuine in Australia where $30 or $32 each at the dealer, they offered aftermarket for $27.90 a pair they have gone in fine arent leaking yet. including fork oil i have done the job for the cost of 2 genuine seals . seals made by 'link' part# 33 129 19 written on packet is this number in brackets (036) and this size 43x55x10.5 they are trail bike seals but have gone in fine i will post if there is any hassles with them.I have posted on the speed triple forum about how much fluid i put in if you want to have a look needless to say 50mm extra fluid has helped out with spongy front end. hope it helps..LOST95

Fork seals on first-gen Daytona 900/1200 etc. are the same as Kawasaki ZX-7 from certain years as well as Yamaha FJ1200 - 43x55 branded KYB (Kayaba) 1/2 the price of the identical item from Triumph.

ZX-7 master cylinder will fit on the Daytona bars if you're looking for a nice upgrade.

Footpegs/footpeg rubbers are Yamaha items. RZ350, FZ600 etc - same across many models.

Oil filters have been covered - same as Honda CBR600F2

Basically, when Triumph was re-started in the early '90s they used as much readily available hardware as possible to keep development costs low. As such, many of the systems that are not 'Triumph Specific' such as a 3 cyl motor are generic to many bikes. Even the stator & rectifier are Yamaha items....
