Question 2) Where do I hook up the vacuum line on the Kawi fuel tap conversion???
You can take the vacuum from any one of the 3 vacuum connectors. There is one on each carb on the inlet side. They having blanking caps on them.

I am using the vacuum from two carbs hooked up with a tee piece. The other vacuum takeoff is running a Scottoiler.

Ducati 916 turn signals replace TT600 front turn signals almost exactly. The electrical connections are different, but you can disassemble the old and new parts and switch the wiring very easily. Cost difference is amazing- something like $65 for Triumph parts, less than $20 for the Ducati part. It will probably fit other Triumphs, but I have not examined the turn signals to know for sure.

Hello fellow listers...

1) What auto filters can be used in place of the stock '02 triumph sprint st one? Who makes them.....parts numbers?

2) Magnetic oil drain bolt....where can one be found?

(a little off-topic sorry)

3) Which is better, factory service manual or Clymers/Hayes? U'd think the factory, but the factory manual for my zx-11d is crap, little detail and they
basically assume the person using the manual is a trained tech. I'd like the manual that breaks it down the most.

Thanks!

Emgo filters 10-20300 (Dennis Kirk 30-1677) $2.99) fit T3s just fine although do not come with O-ring. Supposedly the same filter but packaged as10-37500 includes an o-ring but don't know which one. Gas cap on my '96 Sprint seems to be the same as on my friend's Ducati.

Hi folks, I just did an oil & oil filter change on my '99 Thunderbird. I purchased the oil filter from my 'local' motorcycle emporium for Aus$10. The filter in question is a Yamaha item. Part No: 36Y-13441-00, & is a straight replacement for the Triumph item, but is not supplied with the 'o' rings. I re-used the old 'o' rings, & ran the bike for a while to see if this resulted in any oil leaks. I'm pleased to say that there were none . The shop also had Honda filters that would fit but these were double the price of the Yamaha item, although they were supplied with two 'o'rings. I can't be certain if the 'o' rings on the Honda filter were the correct sizes, but they looked close enough to consider a Honda filter next time.
regards
Ian
Ps. when checking the oil level on that silly little sight glass (a dipstick would be so much more sensible IMHO), I was suprised to see the oil level *rise* with a running motor, I had imagined it would drop with the motor running (idling), & then rise once the motor was switched off. ??

Howdy,

I just wanted to mention that I upgraded from the four-piston GSXR calipers to the TL1000R six-piston units and swapped out the Trident’s master with a unit from a ZX9. The difference between the four and six-piston calipers is very noticeable.

This is almost as good a modification for this bike as the Race Tech springs. Almost

I've just bought a complete set of indicators for my tiger for £32 uk, a fraction of the cost of oe parts, on the lens it says FACOMSA 9183 and on the label on the bag it says INDUFIXSCR FLXED STEM SCREW MOUNT. They are more rectangular but exactly the same mount as oe. I also bought an adjustable brake lever for £15 uk it is packaged as STAG part no' on rear of packet says KLB53, and on the rear of the lever it is stamped JY-780.0. Got a good used pair of bar end weights for £5. All from Breaking Point, Aberdeen.

Through thorough research I’ve discovered the two-piston Bonnie caliper comes from a CBR f2 and Magna 750. I don’t know what good this doesn't though, since there doesn’t appear to be an easy upgrade.

Hi Mick & everyone,

My pennyworth as follows:

Valve shims - 25mm dia as used by various Jap bikes are much cheaper than Triumph ones (though watch out as XJ ones may not be 25mm...)

Early 2-pot caliper repair kits - use Honda CBR600 (though not sure which model) as apparently Honda include spare pins which Triumph don't despite them really being needed on mine.

4-pot calipers from GSX-R750s are replacement for Triumph 4-pots on Tridents and apparently the repair kits are the same - again not sure of specific model/year

Have heard of ZX-10 springs in forks as an upgrade...?

However, there must be MORE!!! I'm imagining Headstock bearings, fork bushes, Clutch plates, clutch hydraulic parts, most bearings, ignition coils, most O-rings and sealing washers (if we knew sizes we could buy most from plumbing store for pennies) non-model-specific fasteners, brake discs? (I have just seen something about interchangeability with a Le Mans...) etc etc.

I wonder if the Triumph Owners Club might have anything on the matter - though I am no longer a member?

And on a different parts intergangeability tip: if a dynamo is basically a motor with movement supplied rather than current, how come we fit both to a bike? Surely one would do and just have a relay for it to do the starting - if permanently meshed it can then take over generating duties once the engine's running. I must be missing something here but I can't think what...?

Paul

And as a sideline
