To carry on the thread in its original vain, here is a snippet of a post from the Speed3 forum on Yahoo this morning.

Quote:
Compatible (with T3) 6 Pot Tokico's I know of so far:
---------------------------------------------
ZX7R: work great, confirmed
97 ZX9R: same as ZX7R, work great, confirmed
98-99 ZX9R: apparently different to the 97 ZX9 (98's
use 296mm vs 320mm discs)
2000+ ZX9's: have the 6 pot calipers *AND* use a 310mm
disc so they probably work

Also, Eric is using Tokicos off a TL1000S but did you
know that TL1000*R* Tokico's are gold anodized (as are
Hayabusa Tok's) - which is a slightly better aesthetic
match for T3's with gold brakes.

For the Trophy 900 model (885), all of these parts will fit and are cheaper than the Triumph parts.
Oil filter- Perform J501; STP SMO-12 this is a good one as you get both O-rings: Purolator ML 16817, the crush washer for the drain plug is 22mm and can be bought at most auto parts stores.
Headlight- Osran 64193
Vavle shims- the ones from a Honda CB 750 and/or 900 will work as will the ones from the Yamaha Venture V4 touring bike.

The fuel tap from a 750 Zephyr will replace the one on the Classic 900s. It looks good, it's vacuum operated, it doesn't need that dumb spacer and best of all, it doesn't leak!

I now have one on my Tbird. Strangely enough, I also have a Tbird tap on my Zephyr

I posted a pic. in my member album, page 5

The idea of a non-leaky vacuum shutoff petcock on my Thunderbird is very very tempting.

I spent about 2 hours cross referencing oil filters from every manufacturer the other day. The Wix website is the best as it lists dimensions, thread, and bypass pressure. Wix makes filters for NAPA. Anyway, the STP S6607 screws right onto a 955 sprint. These are 3 bucks at autozone. The hex on the end of the filter isn't the same so I'll have to buy yet another tool to get it off.

After market levers by Lockhart for the Kawasaki 1100 are a direct replacement for the T-Bird ones. Adjustable, available in silver or black. Not as high quality as the Triumph ones shaped will and at $17.00 apiece, a bargain.

Going back to my earlier post about Tokico 6 pot calipers.

If they fit the early Speed3 then they should also fit all of the early unitary bikes: Daytona, Speed3, Sprint, Trophy & Trident. Additionally they should also fit the current Trophy and Sprint ST & RS which all use the 90mm double caliper setup. If you shop around on ebay you can pick up a pair of Tokicos for about $100. Now wouldn't that be a worthwhile upgrade!?

I just wish my TBird was as simple to uprate. Personally I hate spending out on custom manufactured parts as I worry about availability of service items and whether or not they will be as reliable as OEM stuff. ho hum!

This is unverified, but from casual observation it would seem that the Honda CBR600 F3 uses the same brake calipers as the classics range (Tbird, TBS et al)

Question 1) Does the Kawasaki oil filter come with the correct o-rings???
Question 2) Where do I hook up the vacuum line on the Kawi fuel tap conversion???
Thanks. Al.
