I would really appreciate knowing what is the practical difference between an Accumate and an Optimate III battery charger. I assume they are both available in many countries.
They are both the same prices so it is not a case of cheap and expensive model features as both are recommended for use on bikes.
The Optimate is a charger and optimiser. Does that mean it is designed to be left connected to a bike for a long period, say over a winter and the Accumate is just a good old fashioned charge and disconnect battery charger that will boil a battery dry.
I have the optimate, a good bit of kit, Park the bike, plug in the optimate and forget it. It wont overcharge the battery and it will recover deep discharged batteries. I believe the accumate does the same job.
