Has anyone else notice how quickly the battery fluid dries out on the original Hinkley bikes?
Several solutions.
1. Re-locate battery to a cooler area (Why did they have to put it there in the first place?).
2. Install a heat shield. (Has anyone tried this?).
3. Use a gel type battery.

Can anyone tell me if a gel battery would be a straight forward swap for the original battery on a 92 Trident? Or does it require some electrical jiggery-pokery (now theres a good word for all you guys on the other side of the pond!).

I have a sealed battery on my Super III and my Daytona 1200. They work great and have lasted for over 4 years on the one battery.
And there was no jiggery-pokery. I don't think we allow that in this state..... :-D

I think it is the poor voltage control whch causes the battery to run hot.

Not sure about a gel replacement, but there is a sealed replacement which is a straight swap.
