Hi folks. I'm a little confused about something regarding the fuel system on my '03 Tiger:
I noticed that left side fuel line (return?) was badly kinked and so thought it would be a good idea to reroute it properly. I had my service manual handy and turned to the page for fuel tank removal, as this had the best diagram I could find.
Here's the thing - the regulator does not have a hose connected to it. I read further in the service manual and found the instructions to remove the air box which read "Step 4. Disconnect the engine breather hose and the fuel pressure regulator hose." I couldn't find it nor any place on the airbox where something could be attached (besides the breather hose).
I would appreciate any information regarding this, especially a picture.
Thanks

Looch,
It sounds to me like your pipe could have come off altogether. The fuel pressure regulator as you have probably seen sits just below the fuel pump. It should definately have a hose connected to it. This hose is small diameter but is normally cable tied on the the exit pipe of the regulator.
With no pipe fitted, if the pressure builds within the tank and the valve opens it could let petrol out onto a hot engine or a spark........not nice
Hard not to sound like sucking eggs, but have you checked amongst the breather hoses or along side the battery box to see if it is there just lying loose?
I'll go have a look at mine with my camera....get back to you..
Jim

Well i'll be jiggered!
I have been out to the garage and looked at my '03 Tiger set-up, guess what, no pipe either!
I would have sworn that there was one there. My old 885i Tiger had one, perhaps the later models are just a little different?
I have put a photo in my album (page 3 members albums) don't know if it will help?
Jim

Jim, I guess that makes us both jiggered!
What do you suppose it means, seeing as how the service manual clearly mentions this component? Like I already said, I can find no place where one would connect the other end of this hose.
I was quite concerned, as it would seem other important parts of my PDI were omitted: kinked fuel line, left rear flasher disconnected under the rear panel, battery hold down not in place, and a coolant leak due to improper placement of a hose clamp on the bend of the radiator's bypass hose inlet.
The bike hasn't been for its first service yet. I'm not sure that I want to bring up these inconsistencies (to what avail?). I plan on doing most of my own maintenance and I'm inclined to just let this stuff fly and keep a very close eye on any work that I must have performed by the dealer.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my post.

Mine is the same
no pipe fitted on 03 Tiger
the redesigned air box has no take off point
either they forgot it or it was 'cost cutting'
i dont know if any of the other 955i models lost theirs as well.
