I am thinking about trying to use a plastic welder to repair some old fairings that I have. The fairings have only small linear cracks and all the plastic is there. Nothing has broken away. The welder says it only works on specific types of plastics like; Polyurethane, Polypropylene, ABS, Polyethylene, TPO, Nylon, Polycarbonate, FiberFlex. Does anyone know what the fairings an an 02 Daytona are made of?

My TT600 plastic is ABS. I would be very surprised if Triumph used anything else on another model.

For what its worth, sewer pipe cement works on it. It is the black cement that plumbers use on ABS drain pipes- you can get it at a home improvement store. A small can costs about two bucks and is a lifetime supply unless you plan on crashing on a weekly basis!

I had very good success using Krazy Glue on the side panels and front assembly of a badly crashed TT600. Looks ugly, but works fine for the track! And suprisingly strong.

I have had luck with a strip of fiberglass/carbon and good quailty super glue. The lower fairing of my daytona was cracked when I got it, have seen the crack on many. Cleaned the inside, strip of glass 1" wide, rubbed in super glue with some wax paper on my finger. Holds very well. Not pretty enough to do on the outside.

My son has welded several fairings with a soldering iron and a strip of same type plastic.Welded the crack together, built it up a bit with a strip of same type plastic ,sanded it,primed it and sprayed it.boom! boom!. Looked good as new. :hammer:
