1969 T100C - Trophy 500 Restoration

I have been searching the internet trying to find a forum that would help me with this project. Thank God I found this one. I have searched the posts and have found many answers too my questions. I'm sure on my journey through this project I will need the advice of the experts. I would like to document my project so that others may gain some insight on their projects. I hope that I am posting in the correct thread. I have acquired a 1969 T100C Trophy 500 that is in good shape. I found this bike while prowling through an old barn. It was covered by a piece of old plastic and was protected from the elements fairly well. As far as I can tell it is a complete bike. The seat and the pipes had been removed but were there. The VIN number is T100CEC19080. I had it searched through the DMV but can not find any record. It was last inspected in 1973. I checked to see if the motor was locked up and to my surprise it turned over when hit the kick starter. If anyone has any more detailed information on this VIN I would appreciate the info. I did read a bit about some of these bikes being a west or east coast bike. I will post photos shortly.

You came to the right place, at exactly the right time.

I am just about to start a client's '68 T100C restoration project; I'll be posting a step-by-step journal, with pix (copying from my own Delphi forum).

It'll be interesting to see how the two progress side-by-side. My client is aiming for a 9 month timeframe, by the way.

Good advice: buy "Kim the CD Man" Triumph compendium on CD, it is well worth the money to have all the documentation that pertains to your bike.

Finished my 1970 T100C not to long ago, working on an oil leak, hopefully it will be cured this time around.
I really enjoyed fixing mine, but it's too cool to ride...I mean that in a good way.

Enjoy.

Shutt 24, I also have a 1969 Trophy 500cc and some of the information that I have got off this site is great, very knowledgeable people/mechanics on here and I have learned a great deal from the advice still make some mistakes here and there but what the heck, heres what I can tell ya

*Engine/Frame #s for 69 T100C are--- XC07583 to EC19426
also AD07740 to AD08884 and H66124 to H66976
*If you are going to work on it you should pick up
--Triumph Replacement parts catalogue #10
--Triumph Workshop Manual for 500cc

I have a West Coast competition model and the difference between the East & West is the gears/gear ratio

just starting on mine . a '67 t100c flat-tracker i last rode 34 yrs ago .

kinda nice it not being stock . it's going to be a combination of the bike of my youth and what i want it to be now .

showed everyone the pic of when i dug it out of storage and i'm sure especially the purists had a good laugh . can't wait to post the finished pics here

Congratulations on your find. Take 'er a part and box in stages, documenting where every bolt goes. Take a lot of photos for reassembly. You will need to take the engine down to the sluge trap. A parts and service manual is the best tools. Just think of it as a life size model kit and don't feel strange when you catch yourself starring at one part for a while, not knowing exactly why you are starring at it. This is a normal meditation practice.People on this forum can guide you wherever you need to go.

Thanks for the information. I will get the manuals on order in a few days. I did remove the seat and found that the seat pan is just about rusted out. I have done some thin sheet metal welding before and I may try to repair it. If I can't is there a supplier for the seat pan? Looks like I will need the foam, cover and grab bar too.
I guess you could say I may have to buy the whole seat if I can't fix the pan. If someone has a link to good parts supplier I would appreciate it.

you just got a very sweet bike!
as an owner of a T100S, i can say, for the most part , a simple resto, given decent 'shade-tree' mechanic capabilities.
and when you are done, you will have a nice, quick ride...!

Welcome to the forum, You can buy replacement parts including the seat pan, foam, & cover or a complete seat from both Walridge Mtrs & British Cycle Supply, both in Canada & also Klempf's Cycle in Minnesota. I've dealt with all of them & was very pleased. Have fun, Mike
