'71 Trophy 500 T100C - first bike project

Been on other forums getting a lot of help here, and this place is an incredible & invaluable brain-trust. Some suggested my posting here, but I want to warn that my project will be both slow and not as extensive as others. This sweet T100C I bought from the original owner only has 6k mis. on it and runs like a top, but looks terrible. Used to restore old tractors, and customized Harley's, but restoring an old Triumph is another thing.

The main pic is 8 years old, and the bike is in much worse condition that then, rust, oil, dirt, etc. I can't post it here as I erroneously posted it on the wrong thread, and even tho I deleted the post, the system won't let me upload it again.

I also erred greatly not taking pics when I brought it home, but weather was bad and I had to get it in the garage quick.

Here are pics I later took of specific areas of the bike:

Welcome, how odd mine is the complete opposite of yours.

mine is a '71 T100C with 6,000 mi as well but mine looks great but has motor issues. Low Compression.

The lads here have given me some great ideas on what to check and get it running again. Awesome resource here for sure.

If you haven't already done so check out the "Tips and Tricks" section. Some great advice and videos on youtube on how to do all kinds of useful stuff. Thanks to Plewsy.

Post more pics.

Toxic & Henry -

Spent my first weeks on Tips & Technicques before coming here, and learned tons of stuff....thanks.

Yeah, the garage is a mess...very small, only 12' wide x 28' long. Two motorcycles and complete shop, materials storage, etc. leaves zero room. No place to put the rest of the junk. 3 car attached garage in plans, but no money (retired - but may have to come out of retirement! ;-)

Meant to post two pics above as "Before" and "After". Working on front end now, then will go to engine, move to rear.

Thanks for the feedback to all......I'll keep trying to get my photobucket site posted......

Training Project

My hope is that this is my "In Training" project to prepare me for a '60s Bonneville restoration when I finish this.

Of course, that depends on finding one to restore that fits my budget - which ain't much.......
