best timing

what is the best timing for a 1972 bonnie? To make it easy to start, I'll have to use my left leg with it on center stand, right knee is bad. I have a boyer elect, is set on 38deg. befor tdc.

have you strobed the timing?
Static = 38deg BTDC, white dot through the hole in Boyer.
It should start, warm it up.
Strobing
Run the motor 3500-4000rpm and the 38deg marker lines up with pointer on the case.
You should confirm the position of mark on rotor using the timing hole plug.
If the mark on rotor and the pointer on the case are lined up at TDC,
you need to make another mark on rotor at the 38deg BTDC position and strobe using the new mark.
the screw hole directly behind the pointer can be use to get 38deg.
