Thuxton engine and frame number
Hello,
In first time, sorry by my english is very bad.
I write from Spain, I owned a triumph T120 1965 (well now is mixed of several years). I brogut it in a small museum of a german track. You can see it in: http://madsundaysurvivor.blogspost.com
Well, I go to begin the engine rebuil and some parts, and I'll try ask you my doubts.
My question now, is:
Some times I have seen anounces of autentics Bonneville Thruxton, with only fotographs I don't know if it is true or a reply with a bonneville 1963-1970. Is possible idenfiy a Thruxton only with the serial number in engine or frame?
Thanks in advance,
PD. I was classic racer in spanish lightweight 250cc (Bultaco TSS 250), if anyone need know something about this bikes, I'll can help pleasntly

Hi madsundaysurvivor, welcome to the forum
According to the book "Bonneville" by Steve Wilson there were 8 production racers built from Frame N°s DU10408 to DU10416 and then another fifty were built in May 1965 from Frame N°s DU23129 to DU23181. Don't forget that it is possible to buy almost all the parts needed to build a replica, so be very careful if you are thinking of buying one.
I hope this helps

Hola!
That is a very nice blogspot you have, I understood most of it as I am fairly fluent in Spanish (Castillian).
We enjoy many of the same tastes in motorcycles.
You intend to rebuild your Triumph Bonneville as a Thruxton model? That is a great idea!

Yes, It's a good book (if you can be bothered to read in English, I speak very good French but I am too lazy to read large books in French, Magazines are OK ) Have a look on www.amazon.co.uk they have many good books on old motorcycles. I buy 4 or 5 books at a time to save on the postage costs.
By the way, I like your web site (I understand enough to figure it out )

Thank you.
I haven't decided alreday. I love the racers. But I had an accident in a race, and now I can't race.
Then I have think made a bike, style Tiger TR5R, well a bonnie 65, with sports spares (handle bars, head cylinders, fast camshafts, and best fork and brakes), but only with parts that existed in the years 63-69
Other proyect would be use parts that I already have, ceriani fork, light clip-ons, fontana brakes, and a rickman frame of a friend. but I'm not sure.

Thanks Webby, I'm a amazon UK or USA (depends on the change rates) buyer too. In spanish threre isn't nothing about european bikes. Some times I get italian boks, is more easy for me (always only about italinan motorcycles)
This bike is in my mind, but the frame is too much expensive for me, (although the other materials i get it already since some years ago)
And more, I can't race, I wouldn't like see it in my home, without can ride it. I prefer make a sports/racer road machine (style TR5R), to ride cool and sometimes........ I call it "retorcerle la oreja" (twist the ear aproximately)
Sorry, What is a Triumph Lump?

A Triumph Lump (or Lump) is slang in English for an engine.
