Mark's T140E restore

I am the proud and recent owner of a T140E. I picked it up in a trade and am really excited about restoring it. The past owner started to customize it, and lost interest. It sat in his garage for the past 5 yrs. I put it in my van and brought it home.

It has about 8200 miles, engine kicks over freely, chrome is excellent, not rust or pitting. Paint looks really good as well.

I have what I believe to be all of the original parts, a factory shop manual, and a chilton manual.

I am not a stranger to mechanics and repair, but am new to both this site, and Triumph restoration.

I would like to document my process here, and hopefully get tips and answers from all of you folks who have traveled this road I am about to embark upon.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered, and hopefully with all of your help, I can have this bike looking great and working even better by next spring.

That's quite a nice 750, I'm sure it'll turn out fine.

If that's original paint, you really need to be extra-careful to preserve it!

I like the bars also. I have contemplated using those instead of the original bars. Still unsure.

First bump in the road:
The adapter sleeve for the aftermarket pipes..One of them is stuck in the head, hasn't come out yet.

This side came right out.

Suggestions??

Yeah, that was my initial thought too. See pic:

I was just in contact with the previous owner. He told me that he used grey exhaust adhesive/sealer on it.

Any thought on using heat to help extract it?
