Member's Detailed Project Threads Sticky

I created this new sticky thread to provide a "shortcut" to all overhaul, restoration & rebuild threads posted by our members.

IF YOU HAVE AN OLD PROJECT THREAD, PLEASE REPLY HERE HITH A SHORTCUT TO THAT THREAD, AND i'LL ADD IT TO THE STICKY LIST.

This is one of the most important aspects of this forum for our newer members and members about to undertake a major project for the first time; this "single sticky thread" idea just hit me in regards to the tech threads, and then it occurred to me that this would be another excellent use for it, also helping cut down on the previously long list of sticky topics at the top of the thread list.

If you are starting a project, are in the middle of one, or finished one, and you haven't started your own thread, PLEASE DO SO! We all learn from each other's tips, tricks, troubles and trials. References, sources & photos are an added bonus.

Thanx again to one and all who have posted detailed records of thier projects, my personal favorite part of this forum.

With that said, here is the member's projects thread sticky list:

How should we post progress on restorations?

Paul,

I think the two new stickies are a great idea. I agree 200% that everyone's experiences here are an invaluable resource, that should be organized and preserved for future restorers.

I am incredibly dense when it comes to computers. In future progress reports, or questions related to specifics for an ongoing project, should be continuously append new postings to the original thread, or create new threads somehow linked to the original project?

upstate- for a restoration or rebuild, you should always just have one main project thread for your bike, and keep adding on to it until the project is finished.

You don't have to edit or append, just reply to your own post.

If you are only doing a fork rebuild, or belt drive conversion, that's a toss-up, as it's not a total overhaul or restoration. But if it's very detailed and includes a good series of explanatory photos, it'll be a candidate.

GrandPaulZ -

I guess I should be posting my thread on my project here instead of where I was doing it?

Only seeing some of these projects makes me think what I'm doing is so limited compared to what these other guys are doing....I ain't powdercoating the frame or stuff like that.......

thanks,

Right, this section is geared more for total restorations, complete overhauls, major refurbishing porojects, etc.

Minor overhauls (top end job, transmission rebuild, re-wiring and so forth) are also welcome.
