fix that Legend tail light lens before it disappears

Tail light lenses on the legend tt are weak where the screw stem meets the lens and cracks easily allowing the body of the lens to fall off, leaving just the two screws and the red stem mounted by your now white tail lights.

Use some epoxy or epoxy and filler and make a fillet, a build up of epoxy material, where the stem meets the body of the lens. Now it will have to find some other weak spot to crack.

Last fall I pulled off the tail light lens, and sure enough, it was cracked inside. The previous owner had epoxied it back together. So off to the dealer for another new part that previous owners had neglected to replace.
I'm thinking maybe a small rubber washer between the screw and the lens might help avoid the repeat cracking.
Other ideas welcomed.
Only a couple months till spring!

I would suggest not replacing the lens until you figure out how to keep the old one from falling the rest of the way off. Try the washer, its not going to keep it from cracking but maybe the washer will extend to some firmer lens area that won't fall away. Its a design flaw. All I had left was two screws through two round plastic mount tubes. I used two red light bulb condoms over the white bulbs until my new lens was received.

You cannot tell it is repaired when creating an epoxy fillet repair from the inside.

Tell us of your results. Best of luck and ingenuity.

Here's what I did with mine last week. I used two-part epoxy.

Before: (You can see how weak the tube is)

After: (I filled in the gap between the plastic ring and the tube, also attached the whole thing to the lens)
