Where can this plug be located on a classic triple? I printed the service bulletin as I defininitley have this problem. Is it in the headlight assembly?

Yes it is, there is one bunch of wires that runs down from under the idiot lights, and connects inside the headlight.

Indeed I did find it. Problem was it did not match the documentation I had that was written for the Trophy. In any case, I still have a problem and will probably need to dig in and look for a short. My temp light is always on, even if I pull the wire off the sender. Presumably that means my sender wire must be shorted? I guess I need to trace the sender wire to the harness and try and see what's in between. I think I may need to unravel the bundle? Any other ideas? I'd hate to undo all that for nothing. Thanks!

To eliminate the temp sensor ground the temp sensor lead and see if the light goes off. I had a temp sensor fail on a Kawasaki - they can go bad.

If it does not go off when the lead is grounded check to see if there are any other components in series with the temp sensor - and go thru each one step by step.

This is why I say that. I recently had a starting problem with my '95 1200 - and the neutral light was staying on, even when in gear. I thought, okay problem with neutral swtich - but when I did the tests as stated in the Haynes manual (if you don't have the Haynes manual -get it - it has much more info than the factory offering - whcih for my bike had no electric sysstems tests at all) - I eliminated the neutral sensor as being the problem.

Turns out there was a loose or corroded connection to the solenoid - after I wored thru each component to see that they were all okay. The clutch switch and oil sensor are also in series with the neutral sensor, and they all share a common lead with the solenoid.

Unless the wiring harness housing your temp sensor wire was yanked or abused it seems unlikely that there would be a short in it - but simple to test with a ohm meter - obviously you should get continuity.

Hope it helps and good luck.
