It looks like most people think the TuneBoy is superior to PowerCommander for Triumphs, but I'm wondering if it may be a little too complicated for someone who doesn't really want to spend many hours fiddling with it and test riding. Or can it be used in a relatively simple, basic way to make an improvement, leaving the fine adjustments for a later time?

Also, do you have to be at the bike when downloading the adjustments, or can you use a long connecting cable and do it remotely? I don't have a laptop.

Yes you can make some simple Air/fuel adjustments and see big improvements saving the finer tweaking for later.

There are also "fiddlers" out there and you can try their tunes (download from T595 site) and test the results. The cool thing is that you can d/l a tune ride it for the day and see how it feels then pull back in the garage and d/l another or make changes and see how it reacts. The process only takes 5 mins.

If you can string cables together I do not see why it would not work remotely other than for the diagnostics you will have to go out to the garage to check reults or when you d/l you have to cycle the bike key on/off. Most of the activity happens at the PC but you will have to run back and forth regularly too.

I set up an old P-75 PC in the garage (it doesn't take much to run the TB program and people throw away PC's like the one I am using) and I use it for TB and keeping vehicle maintenance records and CD based parts and maint manuals.

Waaaaay smarter than PCIII for the same cash and also gives you the diagnostics and ability to reset sensors.

I was hesitant initially but after getting it working and playing for 30 mins I rode out of the driveway twisted the throttle and was happy with my purchase. :-D

Okay, thanks, NR. That's good information. I think I'll have to give it a try pretty soon. The bike seems to run fine right now, but I'm sure there's room for improvement. Or for me to screw it up real good! :-D
