From your description is sounds like a "Battery Tender" battery tender. A picture would help enourmously

Are you certain its connected directly to the battery? My Battery Tender Plus connections have an attached cover plug to keep the contacts clean when the plus is not attached to the charger, does the plug on your bike have this cover?

Thanks for the reply guys,.

What I have is a thick wire running down the left side of the bike attached the to the rear peg, it has a plastic end cover, when you pull this off there is a male bullet connector and next to it a female bullet connector. I'll see if I can get a picture taken today.

As I said, it's sounding just like a "Battery Tender" battery tender. The small harness connects directly to the battery has the connector like you describe (usually with an inline fuse 1/2 way between). A photo would provide +ve confirmation.

Sounds like the same thing as on my bike. It's wired as MickMaguire describes. "Battery Tender" battery tender plugs in no prob.
