My 97 Speed Triple has 14,000 km on it. Bought with 5,000 km. OOwner had put on a low race can, bug screen and alarm system.
Last ride of 2004, the engine began to run VERY rough. Lost 2 jugs in the last mile home. Stalled when I pulled into my garage. Tried to start it, but it sounded like a valve was open on the compression stroke. Hmmm.
Had recently replaced spark plugs, oil and oil filtre, gas filtre and air filtre. Had run fine for 100+km. Then this!!
ECM code has never been updated - even after the new can was put on. Have dumped the bike three times - not hard. Service engine light came on - but went off almost straight away.
Did the timing chain jump a cog? REALLY NEED SOME FEEDBACK HERE. Whats happened? Is it expensive?!
