I thought I might share some infor on this. I have been buying used Triumph parts for a while, but just recently I have been accumulating a few for some conversion experiments. So here some observations based upon some recent purchases:

I have used GDL Cycles(www.gdlcycles.com), Baxter Cycle (www.baxtercycle.com), triumph-ant (www.triumph-ant.co.uk) in the UK, and Sprint Manufacturing (www.sprintmanufacturing.co.uk) also in the UK. I did also try a couple of other places but these were my main focus.

So here are my findings, I'll rank them in reverse order:

4. GDL Cycles:
Have a small inventory of Triumph parts which changes very infrequently. What they do have is online which is a big plus but be careful some of the descriptions are wrong (e.g. Adventurer rear fenders being listed as fitting a TBird). Service is excellent, web ordering helps here. Prices are (IMO) high and shipping is also expensive. Parts I have recieved from them are ususally pretty much as described. Example price (they did not have Daytona brake arm for comparisons below) thunderbird front fender $75.99 (6/10)

3. Triumph-ant:
Always has the parts without fail. Slowish to return emails, but he always does return them. Email content is often terse and missing some answers. Websitre is intersting to look at but no prices at all online. Example price for a T3 Daytona brake arm £40 (around $76) shipped. (6/10)

2. Baxter Cycle:
Often has the parts. No indication what used stock they have for Hinckley models on the website. Email varies from fast to no reply (I assume no reply means "we dont have the parts"). For some reason you get a better chance of reply if you fill their online form as opposed to emailing direct. Prices are (IMO) at the high end. Example prices - T3 Daytona brake arm $75 plus shipping, Trophy rear brake perch $85 plus shipping. (7/10)

1. Sprint Manufacturing:
Really great service! they usually have the parts and will email back by the next day. Some used prices are indicated on theire website, but in the main you have to email. Prices are excellent, examples: T3 Daytona brake arm £31.50 (around $60) shipped to the US, Trophy rear brake perch £20 (around $38) plus shipping. (10/10)

I always stick with Sprint Manufacturing for Hinckley Triumph bits.

They have always given me excellent service at a fair price.

Highly recommended.

Of the ones you mentioned, I have only used Sprint Manufacturing but would agree with the other comments - their service was quick and items are sold at a fair price.

I have also dealt with Jack Lilley for some (new) Triumph bits and pieces and found them helpful with goods delivered promptly.

Part of my point was that I have found it best to go to the UK, and actually have found it no exta hassle at all. They take orders by email (just a quick call to tell them my CC number) then shipping takes just over a week. Shipping costs have been very reasonable too.

I would like to learn of more US used parts suppliers. The only ones I know of are GDL and Baxter. Fro new parts you can't beat Great Bay's mail order service - very responsive, take orders by email and fast turnaround (you have to add in a week to get parts from Triumph of course).

I've been to Baxter's. They are in Marne IA. He is a really good guy with a small shop that specializes in classics and classic parts. His prices aren't competitive on new stuff because there is little volume around here. The phone may work better as he is out in the sticks. He will cut a better deal than Breeze cycle in Omaha too.

Haven't found a good salvage dealer for Triumphs here in the states, but I have bought a number of parts on ebay. An alternator for $100 as apposed to $813 new. Has been working great for 12,000 miles. Found a 2nd for $45 and bought as a backup. Other parts as reasonable and haven't been shafted yet.

I agree with all that has been said above.
I pretty well use ebay(unsuccessfully thus far)
I am just looking for accessories for my 03 TBS to make her a little cafe like. Sound better add some more pep etc.
You haven't experienced frustration until you try to get stuff in Canada. Especially here on Vancouver Island. local price on TOR's is $670can., seat & cowl $480can.
Compared to $378us & $275us online. Even with exchange and shipping it isn't even close.

Sprint Manufacturing is certainly the best company I've used for Triumph parts. :wink:

I've been having a hard time finding parts for my 95 S3... then I contacted sprint manufacturing. and bing- they had the parts! Well, they had most of the parts I was looking for (all excpet a tach). Just put in an order... hopefully they come in soon!

I haven't found any one source for used Triumph parts either but I've had good success with ebay so far. I'll often buy something for just in case at a steal. Water pump for my 96 D12 for $19.00 that I needed two years later. Alternator for $179.00 ($850.00 retail). Plastic body panels, etc... just have to keep an eye out but if it's something I really need quick I'll just get it from the dealer, usually here within 3 days or less.
I've never used those sources you suggested Mick but will keep them in mind, thanks.
