Replacing torx head cam cap bolts

Is there any reason why I couldn't replace the standard T30 torx head, cam cap bolts with hex head bolts? There is insufficient clearance between the frame & at least 3 bolts - 1 on the inlet & 2 for the exhaust - for the torque wrench etc that I have. I'm not much fussed on re-fitting the cams with a guess at the torque.

keep the torx

They are a much better head design, far less likely to strip out.

There is no reason not to change them if you like, keep material grade the same. Can you cut down the torx bit to gain clearance?

I stripped 2 Torx bits while putting the Trident's motor back together.

Note that that's 2 *bits*, not fasteners. The bits were easily replaced for $3-4 at any auto shop. Finding the proper fasteners would've taken a lot longer & probably cost a lot more.

So, me, I'm stickin' with the Torx bolts.

Cheers,
-Kit

I gave some further thought to this. I ended up just using the torx head bolts. I figured that, unless I could find out the specs of the orginal bolts - a different bolt may just cause materials problems - corrosion, different expansion rates etc.
It still doesn't change the fact that there are at least 3 cam cap bolts with restricted clearance. Triumph must have a special tool. Again.
