I have been given advice to use 140, 42.
on inlet where vacume gauge can be fitted should ther be a pipe with one way thingy inside
also I see all the air pump and the valve type things have been capped off.
love me bike to bits please, someone help,
would like pics of carb mixture screw,
sorry if this is a familiar old story, but new to triumphs...
my other bitch is a xjr1300sp.mmmmBut no where near as much fun as the thruxton.

140 42 would be what you may need once you remove the airbox. Depending on your enviroment factors, I wouldn't suggest more than 115 for mains, 40 pilot with airbox & tors. The mix screws are underneath the carb, in the front. Should be under a metal cap. "D" screws inside will allow you to adjust. Easy to do as is, however I'd suggest pulling your carb if you are able so you can visually see what you are doing the first time. Also a good time to upgrade the carb screws. Starting issue could be all kinds of things. Here's a list of some things:

1. using choke correctly/no throttle when starting
2. check plugs
3. air leak at carbs or ehaust
4. mixture setting- a rich mixture can improve as engine warms up
5. idle setting
6. balance carbs
7. clogged/dirty air filter

Give us some more detail on exactly what you mean by "starts terrible" and post some pics of the vacuum gauge fitting and the sir injector fittings as these could be causing problems too.
