Help ease my mind please. I have just chsnged the oil on my sprint and put in semi synthetic Castrol GPS 10/40. Is that ok?

Read a lot of opinons but basically want to make sure its ok for a few thousnd miles, if not I will change it. Am going away on the bike next week, need re-assuring its not going to break..

Thanks.

As long as the bottle doesn't say "Engery Conserving "on it your good to go. I think all 10w- 40, 15w 50 , 5w 40 oils are safe for bikes.

+1

Many people will say that this is not an issue, but as all the "Energy Conserving" oils have friction inhibitors added, they MAY contribute to the clutch slipping.
I am one who does not feel that it is worth the risk.

Pretty close to the ol' "Hrrump, you're not going to run car oil in your motorcycle, are you?" as you can get without outright saying it.

Forget the article, look at the chemical breakdowns in the picture section.

Mobil 1 red cap car oil has 100ppm moly (vs. none in MX 4T) & a good deal more calcium than MX 4T. Other than that, it's identical. I feel better knowing that, even with my empirical observations already showing me that it's fine...

Cheers,
-Kit
