I hit a turkey going 75mph this past week, which caused me to lay the bike over, on the left side. I am going to convert the front end to a S3 because I dont want to have to pay for all new fairings, and I have always liked the looks of the S3. Could anybody tell me what parts I am going to need? all I need is the headlight assembly. I want to use my original tach/speedo, if possible.
Thanks,
John

how about a naked RS?
this would save you the headache of hiding all that wiring in the nose.

You will need a custom adapter for the risers & bars - the forks are different diameters so you cannot use an S3 top clamp.
LSL makes an adapter kit for the Sprint - LSL bar riser kit
You may need longer control cables / brake lines - my friend who installed bars on his Sprint as part of GSXR fork converison did not need to replace the cables but did fit new brake lines. Good time to upgrade to new dual lines if you don't already have them.
Then you will need the headlights & bracket assembly from a 02-04 Speed Triple or Speed 4 - the bracket from this year mount the headlights & the instrument in one component. However I don't believe the mounting points in the frame & the bracket are the same distance apart between the two different frames so you may need to customize to get the bracket to fit.
The speedos are same mounting for both Sprint & S3/S4
Here's the parts fiche for the headlight/bracket assembly

I was wanting to use my handlebars, all I want to change would be the headlights along with a black bug shield.
Thanks,
John

you would need to get the whole front assembly , perhaps off a wrecked S3. You would also need to get some sort of rearview mirrors, since the RS bracketry would have to be removed.
The stock wiring would have to be stuffed behind the little fairing.
Also, be sure to get 02+ parts, since the earlier models had analog guages. your RS pod should bolt right to the 02+ bracket.
good luck

Oh, yeah, I would just purchase some bar end mirrors. That is all I would need, the main bracket, headlights, bug shield?
Thanks
John

Bar ends won't work on an RS handlebar. They are solid bars, not tubular. the end weights are threaded on thebar.
I think you would have to relocate your horn as well.

OK, can't argue with that ! must have been screwed into the ends of the bars.
Good luck with the refit, and post some pictures wher you complete it.

So much for my idea of swapping in an S3 triple clamp so I could use different bars.
