strange problem developed over the past couple of weeks, occasionally when I hit the starter all I'd get would be the sound of the relay under the seat clicking. I found that if I bounced the forks up and down it would normally / sometimes start after a while? loose connection on clutch lever switch possibly so I linked that out and once again sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. i checked out the 'clicking relay' and that also appeared to be clean and working correctly. intermittent faults aagghh! any ideas would be gratefully received..

Sidestand switch is a poss.

Also alarm wiring plug under seat has a wire link in it that will stop the bike starting if it is not in place correctly.

Loose wire? Check the starter relay connectors and the thick one on top of the starter.

Check the battery terminals for a loose bolt. (With a poor connection there might be enough voltage to activate the ECM and relays but not enough amps to engage de starter)

Also check the battery fluid levels and gravity in each cell as bouncing the bike might just be redistributing fluid that collected on the left from leaning on the sidestand.

Otherwise there could be a loose/corroded connector somewhere (easy to check) or some damaged wire from twisting/rubbing between the frame and fork but that's unlikely.

As for the alarm plug looping wire, it forwards +12V to the start switch when no alarm is fitted.
