Was wondering what you use for it... was talking to my old man earlier, and he recently moved down to Daytona Beach, Fl. Of course being down there, he bought a Harley. Don't hate him for that... . So on to the point: being that Daytona is well, a beach, there is a lot of salt on the road/in the air, etc. and he commented on the chrome parts of his bike starting to get a bit dull and pit slightly in places... I've heard some good things about Plexus, but to my understanding that is mainly for plastics... any ideas?

Get hold of a Euro product called Solvol Autosol - the stuff is amazing.
Works a treat on polishing Aluminum too.
I cut my teeth on motorcycles back in UK polishing wheels, crankcases etc with this stuff!

You can find it on E-Bay from UK or Canada or some US sites such as this (check on Google for other sources)

Three old standbys I have used with success are:

Flitz
Simichrome
Metal-Glo

I have seen them all at my local hardware store or auto parts store.

Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish is what I always use on chrome and all other sorts of shiny bits.

Solvol Autosol as suggested followed by a wipe over with ACF-50 ACF-50 works a treat and kills salt

If your chrome is to the point that chrome polish makes it look better, it is already to late. Surface grime can be removed gently with mild degreasers. If you have neglected your bikes chrome finish to the point that surface rust or pitting is allowed to form sure you can removed some of the surface damage with a chrome polish, but this burnishes your chromes surface ( read scratches it) and the rust and pitting has already penetrated the surface and done permanent damage. The trick is to never let your chrome get this way. You do this by keeping it clean and dry. You can apply wax to the non-exhaust chrome surfaces as an oxidation barrier. Chrome polish is like automotive paint rejuvenator. It is for folks that have already let the vehicles surface become damaged, and whatever the polish damages more, still looks better than the already shot surface finish. Aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless are a different animal and can be polished at home out of a can of polish. Keep you bike clean and throw your can of chrome polish in the trash. Vegas
