Does anyone have a picture of a tuneboy cable? The website doesn't show it.

OK, how about, can anyone with a tuneboy cable snap a couple shots of it so I can see what I might want to buy. Call me silly, but if I'm paying close to 300.00 bucks for something, I'd like to see what I'm getting.

Hi Triumph times, I use the TuneBoy commercially.Has been around since 1998 and developed by kiwi boy Wayne McDonald. The cable has a simple USB on one end and a connector for the ECU on the other with a LED to notify communication between the ECU and the laptop. The cable is only about NZ$40, what you're getting is the KEYCODE in the purchase price. This unlocks the ECU and allows huge amounts of adjustment, far more versitile than the Triumph diagnostic unit.
You can also build maps from scratch to suit individual requirements, or simply adjust standard maps to increase performance. The DataLogger feature is priceless. This allows you to connect the laptop to the bike and run for as long as your laptop battery will stand.
After engine rebuilding you can do a series of tests before even firing up.Then with the DataLogger setup you can monitor the tuning while on the run.
And this is just the beginning of the features.
However,if your technical abilities are limited, you would be better to find someone in your area with the TuneBoy software to make the adjustments you're looking for.
Cheers

If you really think a picture of a computer patch cable is going to tell you much, I can take a picture of both the old style cable and the new USB cable. I have both, being an unreconstructed tinkerer. If you grew up keeping SU carbs synched and adjusted, it is exactly the kind of computer toy you will like. If you think that adjusting things, just to see what happens, is a bad idea, then it probably isn't worth your $300. I like to load new maps to see if they work or not, although I haven't done that on the 675 yet.

The biggest problem with TuneBoy as a consumer product is how nebulous it really is. You get some software, a cable, and an unlock code. You don't even get a box with fancy graphics on it to look at. Once you get past the lack of visual impact, you find out that it is probably the most powerful tool you can have to keep your fuel injected Triumph tuned up and running well. You can use it in Power Commander emulation mode and hook the ecu directly to a dyno through your laptop. You can read all the fault codes and adjust the injectors as part of synching up the throttle bodies.

The whole thing is just amazing. I don't have any kind of connection to Wayne, either. Just speaking as a very happy TuneBoy user for something like four years now.

I am pretty sure that several 675 racing efforts in Britain are using TuneEdit software as part of their tuning instead of hooking up a Power Commander.

If Wayne decided to adapt it so it worked with Keihin injection on Japanese bikes as well as Triumphs, he would sell a whole lot more, but he seems to be a Triumph man through and through. He is active over on t595.net, and if you send an email question to him, you get a personal response from him or his wife Emma solving whatever problem you are asking about. Try getting something like that from any other aftermarket vendor!

Thanks guys, got what I needed. Don't think a picture will do anything, just wanted to see what I am buying is all. Don't give a rat's a** about packaging either, just wanted to see what I am going to buy. So I've seen it now, I am happy. I have a lot of info on it and have purchased a key. Having someone that has the cable tweak my new 06, then I'll decide if I want the cable for myself and another key for my 00 RS/Daytona frankenbike.

Where can you buy tuneboy for $300? I thougt they were over $400 USD for the package. If it can be had for $300 USD, then it's looking like a tuneboy for Christmas for soonerfan85. :upthumb:

It used to be $300. There is a new USB cable, so maybe that is why it is more expensive. I don't remember what I paid, since it was a while ago, and I do my best to forget things like that.
