Gentlemen: I'm new to my TB, and would like to get an idea of what to expect of MPG. On the open road what has been your experience on mileage to reserve, than how far until the bike coughs to a stop?? :wow:

When I had my TBS, I went over 180 miles on a tank one time. I have hit reserve has late as 160 miles, but usually around the 150 mark. You should be able to get in th ehigh 40s to even 50 MPG, depending no how liberal you are with the right hand, of course.

I get about 160 - 180 miles to reserve, maybe 190 - 210 total.

I get about the same as Slinky on my Adventurer, which is the same stock engine as the Tbird, the only mod's I've made thus far are for comfort so they should not affect the mileage.

I'm the same, doesn't really matter whether it's two-up, easy or hard - about 40-43 US mpg.

I hit reserve about 115 - 125 and head for a petrol station.

Both my bikes usually get 40-42 US mpg. I start looking for petrol at 100 miles. A couple of times I've managed 50 MPG for one tankful. I'm still trying to figure out how I did that. It's most likely the quality of the fuel. We have gasahol here and those two tanks were pruchased in another state.

On my TB which has been ported, restrictors removed and airbox modded I get approx what parrcm gets 115-120 miles before reserve. I tend to do country roads at a reasonable speed. A bit less mileage economy if I have a pillion but not much.

I think there is something odd about Slinkys reserve fuel, my tank (same as yours I assume) has 15 ltrs plus 4 ltrs reserve, on Slinkys estimates that should put his full tank at 202-228 miles, impossible ?

My mileage on full tank is 142 miles max.

Something very strange, the figures are literally miles out.

FYI 4.55 litres is one imperial gallon
3.785 litres is one U.S. gallon

Therefore the capacity of my tank is US gallons 4 to reserve and 5 galls total.

Have some of us got different size tanks ?

Thanks all for the info! Let it be said that I'll be screaming into my helmet from butt pain well before I run dry of gas.
