What are some other gearheads thoughts on the best OIL for my Speedy?
I'm torn between said two, however I'm open for suggestions.
Also should I run 15/50 or 10/40?

I'm using Valvoline Syn Power full synthetic 20/50 w in my Standard Bonnie and it seems to be doing fine (no slipping clutch or chatter...positive shifting). I've got less than 1000 miles since the oil change so I really can't say much more.

Mine doesn't...it just "snicks" as I shift through the gears after it warms-up, and I haven't had any false "neutral" since I changed to the Valvoline.
This is only the 2nd oil change on my bike. The first was done by the dealer after 500 miles and they used the Triumph specified oil.
For what it's worth, I replaced the oil filter with a Bosch 3300 (I think that's the number) from Autozone for about $6.

I use mobil 1 V twin 20/50. I think mobil 1 is the ****e. I spent many hours searching before i cane to that conclusion, and i finally found an oil forum where some local guru who is well respected there suggested the V twin oil. he apparently works in the oil industry and has done a lot of research, so i figured his word was good enough for me.
On a side note, and i don't mean to diss the valvoline users. But i read some posts at BA about the valvoline bike oil and how it quieted the twin engines. so i tried it. It did quiet it tho after warmup the noise seemed to come back to normal. But the suprising thing was that the bike ran noticably slower as far as acelleration. I was disappointed because i had just gotten my bike to where the power was just at the point where i was happy with it thru jetting, and with the valvoline i lost that edge. At first i thought it had to be something else because how could oil make this much difference?! Then i dumped the valvoline just a few days later and put V twin back in it and the bike was back to it's former self and the speed was back. i know it sounds crazy, but when i posted about it a few others chimed in to say it's indeed true and one said it one reason so many like mobil 1. I figured it was more a case of the mobil 1 being synth and the valvoline was dino oil as far as i could tell, and that synth was slicker creating less drag on engine internals. But whatever it was, it literally made as much difference to the bad as the last bit of rejetting i had done did to the good, and the valvoline was like going back to the last state of tune before the final rejet.
So i wouldn't hesitate to recommend mobil 1 vtwin or any other mobil oil that you can use in these bikes. the v twin meets all requirments and is probably the same oil that comes in the triumph branded mobil 1 bottle. Just stay away from the extended milage car oils of any brand whatever you do.

I use Amsoil 20/50. The bike shifts very smoothly with it. I feel like I'm part of a cult by using it though and I'm not real crazy about that. Don't drink the Kool-Aid.

Your question is kind of like asking which pair of hand made Italian loafers should you buy. Both are excellent oils. I've used both in my Sprint 900 and prefer the Mobil due to shifting, but each bike is different. I will run only Amsoil in my dirt bike and Norton. Of interest is that I had the Mobil tested at 5,500 miles. It was still very usable but had fallen out of grade, it was no longer a 50w but a 40w oil instead. I have yet to test the Amsoil. If you choose Amsoil and don't have a local dealer, PM me, I can give you tips on how to order since I'm a dealer.

What Weight should I use 10-40 or 15-50 or 20-50 (the manual says to use either 10-40 or 15-50). I'd like to go thicker if it wouldn't hurt anything. Maybe that would quiet my engine.

To answer your question with another question, what part of AZ are you in? If your in the Flagstaff area, where it's cooler than Phoenix or Tucson, you may want to run the 10-40, however, if your in Tucson or Phoenix areas, the heavier may be better. Basically, it's gonna boil down to your preferance.
