Want a Speed Twin today? Here's an idea...

Well, I started with a 4-cylinder CBR1000 and then bought an RS triple. So the next logical step is a twin, right?

Unhappily, Triumph doesn't make a twin my son would be found on (not enough plastic, etc). What's a dad who wants to have a ride with his kid and maybe get on the track once in a while to do? "Imagine" a Speed Twin:

First, get a Suzuki SV650. It has Triumph-like torque and shares some of the looks with the Sprint RS and, if naked, the Speeds.

Paint it in your favorite Triumph Speed color or use the new 40th anniversary Hayabusa orange, which looks like lucifer orange to me.

Do something with the decals and badges and VOILA, you have a Speed Twin!

Now for that single...

I love that nobody commented on this idea back in 2003. It also pains me to see someone ignored. Sigh. I feel for the underdog, and I felt an urgency about resurrecting this 8 year old thread if only to pat this father on the back for looking at ways of doing some father-son stuff. I commend him for that.

Well, the son is probably a dad by now and ... well, how did it turn out? I am curious.

This one certainly fell through the cracks.

I'm confused about the connection between a Triumph-looking Speed Twin and an SV650. From what I gather, it sounds like it will be a custom painted SV650 with Triumph decals? I'm not sure if I follow the goal, but an update would be interesting to read.
