Question about downloading Tuneboy tunes

Hello All,
I have a question about the various fuel injection tunes that are available on the internet. I am assuming that many of these tunes originated from people using the Tuneboy software and have created their own tune that they are happy with. Can I take one of these tunes to my Triumph dealer and have them download it into my ECU? Or, are they only downloadable using the Tuneboy cable and software? While I am aware of the many benefits that the Tuneboy equipment affords (downloading tunes, modifying tunes, assessing and trobleshooting sensors, etc.) I am interested in downloading a tune to my 2001 Tiger that I have heard great things about and am wondering if I can save some $$$ around the holidays by having the dealer download it (and purchasing the Tuneboy equipment at a later time).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The tunes found online can only be uploaded to the ECM via TuneBoy. Even if a dealership could, they would not due to legal issues. You may be able to find someone in your era who owns a TB setup who will let you use it and by the ECM key only. A local dyno shop may have a TB setup, but I don't know what they'd charge in your neck off the woods to upload a tune only (probably way too much, as it's only a five minute job).

The problem with having someone else upload a tune and you not having the capability to use TuneEdit later on is that the new map may call for idle trim adjustments that can only be made with TB. You could have a dealership adjust the idle trim (CO) for the map, but that is going to cost you even more money.

BombFactory,
Thanks for the reply. I thought it was too good to be true (i.e., to have the dealer upload the Tuneboy tunes). Oh well, this only strengthens my resolve to buy the Tuneboy equipment.

Thanks again.

Cheers.
