t140v 724cc valve gaping specs

any insight is great. i have lots of backfiring at the adjustment i made to the 748cc specs

Hi Mate, can you be a bit more specific with what the symptons are & what you have done/adjusted?

electeonic ignition, mikuni 32mm carbs, new fuel taps, oil change *(the oil sludge was so thick it would stand up on my finger. i've only had it 3 months. thats what i've done so far it has sat for years... oh and it has good compression

I haven't worked on your model, but from what I know the 750 is a bored out 724. I wouldn't think there would be a change in valve clearance adjustment, although a manual or knowledgeable member can answer that for sure.

Regardless, a difference in .010" or so in adjustment shouldn't produce backfiring if the engine hasn't been run that way for long. What exactly did you set the valve clearance to, how did you do so, and did you do anything to the camshaft or ignition timing?
