Battery problems......

So....after a few months out of the country I come back home eager to get back on my Speed Four but the battery is completely dead.

I jumped it off my 12V car battery (with the car engine on, not sure your meant to do this) and it started idling fine after cutting out a few times first. I left it running for about ten minutes but as soon as you disconnect the negative from the car battery the engine dies and there is still zero power in the battery.

I'm useless when it comes to anything like this but after my trip I've vowed to start to learn which is why I'm posting on the forum rather than running to the nearest garage .

Any advice would be much appreciated. Do i just need to charge the battery for longer or could it be something else?

Batteries

You need a "Battery Tender" on the bike whenever you leave it unattended.
Now you need a new battery.....
There are tons of threads and posts in here, use your "search" function to study them but the bottom line is, keep a battery tender on it whenever you aren't riding and you'll enjoy trouble free service the rest of the time....

I use the "JR" on mine, but you have lots of options...most all the kits come with a direct lead to attach to your battery poles and you can simply unplug/plug it when you use and park the bike....
