How to remove Balancer Shafts
OK new how to but i ask in case anyone else has the problem and has a simple solution.
I have taken the sump of the Daytona 1991 100cc engine. Inside are the balancer shaft, I read the Haynes manual took off the pinch bolts and clamp, the next paragraph reads;
Hold the balancer weight from inside the sump area and withdraw the shaft from the side of the crankcase. I stopped there as I couldn't withdraw the shafts. The back one turned a little, bit of GT40 sprayed around the ends and it moved a little more so i gave it some light knocks. The front balancer shaft wouldn't turn at all. I then got my plumbers wrench (love these tools) and grabbed the end of the shaft and guess what.. the whole engine moved, now given that it is supposed to be clamped and the end of the balancer shaft is not in a bearing i am guessing the needle roller bearings in the balancer weight have had it.
That's OK I can live with that , but how in the name of all that's holy do i get the balancer weights out to replace them???
