spt 955i

Hi there i own a 955i speedtriple 2000 is it true that the starter clutch can stick and burn out needing a full strip down as its housed in the block if so how can you stop this if at all :

I don't think it sticks and burns out so much as it kicks back and breaks teeth, but yeah, the sprag can be a problem and I believe a 2k Speed Triple would need cases split to fix it.

The good news is that keeping the battery fully charged is usually enough to keep anything bad from happening.

k. merrill, This is a common problem for any engine using a sprag clutch (not just Triumph). As, Kit, says the best preventative is a well charged battery with good connections. It is more troublesome to fix on the 885 and early 955 designs.
