Frequently Asked Questions and How to Post Pictures

Since there seems to be some folks having issues with sharing images of their bike here, Instructions to follow are easy.

1st. Upload the photo from the camera to the computer.
2nd. Go to http://photobucket.com/ and get a FREE account set up.
3rd. Follow the instructions on uploading images to your photobucket.com account.
4th. Find the photo you want to post in the forum and copy the IMG code for this photo. It will look like this (IMG)http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y234/ghl1405/Triumph%20America/DSCN7831.jpg(/IMG)... always ending in .jpg and there are square [] brackets instead of () at the beginning and the end of the code.

*** Images must be hosted somewhere, ie. photobucket, and can not be viewed from your computer.***

Please post your pics into the relevant threads. Please do not post over-enlarged pics that extend the screen size, this is annoying to viewers.

Note: comments and questions/answers are invited but such comments will be deleted after one month to prevent the cluttering up of the picture threads.

Any bike that creates an interest with a number of questions & answers that are worth keeping can be saved and moved by the moderators as a new thread into the main forum.

Hope this helps some folks.

Photobucket is an option, but a simpler alternative:
  1. Upload your picture into the Member Album.
  2. View your newly uploaded picture.
  3. See the BBCode already provided in the lower section, under the title "Linked Thumbnail". It is properly formatted and ready to copy into your post.
Below is an example, from the first picture I could find:

Click on the thumbnail to view the medium-sized image, all without leaving the comforts of Rat.Net.

Additional Example

As Shawn said, a good way is to use the triumphRAT.net photo album. This example uses that.

First upload your pictures to your triumphRAT.net album (I am assuming you already know how to do that).

Have two windows open - the one in which you are making your triumphRAT.net post, and another one with the picture open.

Select the picture you want use. Underneath the picture is a column of icons:

There's a final icon underneath the "linked thumbnail" line at the bottom. Click on that, and you get two extra lines of code:

You can grab hold of the bottom line of code, and drag it (or copy and paste it) into the post that you are making. Your post will now have that line of code, something like this:

Now submit your post, and hey presto, as if by magic the picture appears:
