Does anyone here have a Triumph-installed (Datatool Series 2) alarm on their bike? Mine was installed when bike was new, but I have not used it (the alarm) in approx. three years, because the transmitter on the key fob started becoming unreliable. I never took the "remote" off of my key fob, but simply stopped using it to arm/disarm the alarm. Anyway, today I washed my bike in preparation for a club ride tomorrow. I took it out for a little putt, and heard an occasional chirp from the alarm system as I was riding. I knew it was from the alarm system, but figured it was probably caused by something getting wet from the washing, and would dry out by the time I finished my little ride. I stopped at a friend's house, and the alarm really started raising hell! I was able to reset it via the transmitter-or remote (whatever you call it), but it re-armed itself automatically within a minute or so. I removed the side covers to unplug the wiring harness block, and to disconnect the negative battery lead, hoping I could "reset" the alarm programming. It continued to sound off, powered by an apparent integral battery in the control box under the fuel tank somewhere. Eventually, the "integral" battery ran itself down, silencing the alarm. Then I tried unplugging another white terminal block behind the left side cover. This apparently disconnected the alarm system from the bike, so I started the bike to check my other electrics. Lights, horn, signals, etc. looked good, but when I put the bike into gear after raising the sidestand, the engine immediately died. So, I remade that connector block and went to check my fuse box. I disconnected the accessory (10A) fuse, and things seemed to be alright. I got on the bike, rode a four miles back home, and parked the bike. When I went to start it up again an hour later, the ***** alarm went off again!!! So it is continuing to re-arm itself automatically, and had become a complete nuisance.
Until I can relocate my original paperwork, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
