Has anyone here fitted an inline fuel filter to their TBS? If so, what type/part number? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Just curious.... Does the TBS not have the filter screens on the petcock lines inside of the gas tank. My Adventurer has them plus the filter at the carbs.

IMO - I would think that adding an in-line filter should be ok as long as the flow of fuel is not restricted.

Thanks for the replies! I want to fit an inline fuel filter for two reasons. First, with a clear inline filter I can troubleshoot fuel flow without disconnecting any of the fuel lines. Second, as TNSEN has noted, I too am experiencing paint chipping at the gas cap and have concerns that this will get into the engine and cause problems.

Not sure if there is a screen at the petcock inside the tank on the TBS, JASMAIL, and not sure how I can easily check this.

There are a variety of inline filters available ranging greatly in price (and quality most likely) and I have concerns about restricting the flow of fuel. I just rejetted the carbs and have the bike dialed in at this point. If I add a fuel filter I'm not sure if this will affect the work that I just did on the dyno.

Ride safe,

You can order the K&N ones from J&P Cycles for about $6.00. I dont think the size will matter as long as the gas flow is not restricted.

yes the tbs does have two petcock filters (one for "on" and "res") or at least mine does. i took my tank off right before spring to check the petcock and remove the paint from just inside the filler neck. when i got there the filters were dirty, the taller one had what looked like a hole in the end of the filter and there was gunk and what looks like minute paint chips caked on top of the last gasket at the petcock itself...

I buy mine from the local big4 nippon shop. They are pretty much a stock/standard item. Cost about $3 bucks. Very small, clear plastic. I installed mine just after the petcock..not a lot of free room but enough for this little guy.

Looks exactly like this:

K&N inline filter

I got mine for under $2.00 from the lawnmower isle at the auto parts store. :hammer:

It's just to get the crud out that the screen on the petcock missed. Just about anything will work.

Those things cut down on the open space for fuel flow as the holes are pretty small. Wouldn't that cause fuel starvation?
