I would like to fit a set of highway pegs to my 2001 Legend. Having browsed through the various threads on the topic I am under the imression that the early Classics had the lugs at the front of the crankcase drilled and tapped to accept bolts for highway peg attachment. On my legend this is not the case - the lugs appear to be there, but are blanked off, which means I have to drill and tap them myself. What I need to know is what size and depth is the hole and thread needed to do the job, also are there any other issues I need to be aware of in fitting highway pegs.

Great Bay Triumph (NH, USA)sent a template with their pegs, they also included the drill bit marked for the proper depth. Which ones will you be using?

Sorry, I'm pretty sure they were 1/4 -20. I used a #7 drill bit.
I also used a bottom tap so my holes were shallow. 3/8 to 1/2". I also installed bolts with lock-tite and they have never come loose. Hope this helps.

Mike is there any chance you could post a close up photo of your pegs installed. I've only seen long shots and there was no detail, with a bit of detail I can better work out how to fabricate a set from scratch.

Sure I'll give it a shot, how do I attach a photo?
I'll go snap some now, I guess I could e-mail them to you.
