I am looking to put new tires on 2000 TBS with Sprint Cams, Rejet, and open airbox.

Currently in the Running -

Metzler ME Z6

Pirelli Diablo

Michelin Pilot Power

Right now the Michelin Pilot Power is the front runner.

Anybody have any experience with these tires or have recommendations for other tires they think are better.

Thanks

Other Motorcycle: 2000 Triumph TBS
Bridgestone BT020.
I've run them for years now on my Y2K TBS.
Good mileage, great grip, low price. What more could ya want?

I've run the 020s in the past, I currently have a set of Z6es on mine. I think I like the 020s more.

What type of riding to you plan on doing the most? Those ME Z6's will get twice the mileage as the Diablos or Power Sports, but won't have the grip those other provide in the really tight stuff. A good compromise between high mileage and sticky street tires may be the Continental Conti Road Attack. I just put a pair on my aprilia. I'll let you know later how they do.

I guarantee that you will run out of ballz before the BT020s run out of grip.

I looked at the road attacks and I would be very interested in your appraisal.

I still have a few thousand miles on the Bridgestones and do not need to buy for a while.

And I guarantee you are absolutely right. I am a medium agressive rider. I know others who push it much further than I do.

The reviews however on these other tires talk about how much better they fall into the turn, how much more stable they are, and how much better they track the road.

And while I most likely will not need any of these characteristics, I believe the fact that they exist will give me a little more confidence and a higher comfort level with the bike and riding aggressively is more about your confidence in yourself and your comfort with the bike than it is in the actual equipment capabilities.

It is all psychological, but usually it is that psycological edge that wins. Everybody has a fast bike. It generally boils down to who is willing to ride it fastest.

It's kinda like the old expression about gambling - "Scared money don't win".

Bike magazine did a general tire test and they found that on a wide range of bikes and riders the 020s were the best street tires. The test included the tires mentioned in this thread.

The Diablo Corsa's are the Track Day tires and I am not looking at those. Pirelli has come out with a new Diablo called the Diablo Street and are supposed to be comparable to the Z6's as far as mileage goes.
