Hello to everyone. I am a first timer to this forum and to Triumph all together. I just purchased a very nice 97 T-Bird from a very good guy in MI and he turned me on to this site. I have been riding since I was about 13 and I have never been as excited as I am about this T-Bird. However I know venturing into the unknown is bound to make you a little uneasy so if anyone has any tips or advice either or both would be very welcome. Also if there are any members in the area of Northern Minnesota that would like to ride this summer please let me know as I think I am one of only a few in my area that I know of riding a Triumph. Thank you And I look forward to the start of my T-Bird Adventure.

hi jdkor -

let me be the 1st to welcome you to Triumphrat.net. even more so let me have the honor of welcoming you to the ownership of your 1st actual motorcycle!!

my assumption with you being only a big step from the great white north is that roads are still a couple weeks from being clear but by may 15th. you will realize you were actually a Triumph rider in the closet that finally got the courage to come out!!! you will realize that it was the maniacal american & perverse japanese advertising companies that had clouded your mind for so many years causing you to ride inferior machinery & you will finally be free to release the man you always were to the world!!! women will adore you. HD riders will cast their eyes down in shame & jap riders will snap connecting rods in half in efforts to escape the sound of British Iron growling.

i normally lurk amongst the classic guys but dig anything Triumph ever put their name on. next step for me is an R3 but i may take a pitstop at a speedy or a tbird. happy riding.

great board - great guys.

hi jdkor

Welcome to the family. These are great bikes and there is plenty of potential for hopping them up if you ever feel the need.

I did a 230 mile loop through the Great Smoky Mountains on my Thunderbird yesterday. About halfway through the ride I thought to myself " Out of 38 years of riding, I've never enjoyed a motorcycle as much as this Triumph." I hope you feel the same way about yours.

Welcome to a very close family. Don't think of it as being in the minority. Think of it as being among the enlightened and exclusive. I started riding at 13. My first job was as a lot lizard at a Honda / Triumph dealer. It was a dream and ever since then, 35 years ago I have wanted a Triumph. I bought an 01 T-bird last fall. I have never regretted it I've had a number of bikes, but none that turn heads and gets thumbs up like the Triumph. Even HD riders give me a smile and a nod. You have a true classic. The more you ride it, the more you will love it. You are obviously a person the doesn't run with the masses and has an eye for enduring beauty.
Congratulations.

Welcome to the group. I'm a little new here myself, but I want to say I saw the bike you bought and I almost bought it myself. (Wound up with an Adventurer with a few extras instead.) You got a nice one and you should enjoy it!
