2000 Adventurer needs new motor? Will Trident motor work without too much work?
Thinking about TBS motor also? any suggestions? will the trident motor bolt up easily to the adv. frame and will the chrome side covers off the adv. go on the trident or tbs motors

TBS motor will be a straight bolt in swap. Engine sidecovers from Adventurer will bolt on to the TBS motor.
Trident motor will bolt in to the Frame, but there will be some challenges, Sidestand, and exhaust are the most obvious challenges.
Adventurer engine covers will not fit the Trident engine.

There is no place to bolt the sidestand on the Trident motor.
If you used the Adventurer exhaust it would be easier, but the Water pipe is different and routed differently. so that will need to be swapped/changed or modified.
Also with the shift mechanism from Adventurer bolted on to the Trident motor your shift pattern will be opposite.
1 up 5 down.

would it help to use a trident rad. for the water pipes? the exhaust problems are then is a just a problem with the coolant plumbing?
should I use the trident carbs or are they the same as an adventurer?
if I get the shifter from any of the 6 speeds, will that correct the shift pattern?

If you use the Adv carbs, you'll likely have to rejet them.
I'd use the Trident carbs.
There might be other clearance problems with the exhaust, these are just some things that have been posted about this.
The TBS foot controls would make the shift pattern same as stock.
I don't know if the Trident Radiator would help or not.
The best way is to just get the parts together and start looking at it.
There are pics of a Legend with a 1200 Trophy motor, somewhere on this forum, maybe you can find those and contact they guy who's done it before.

What's wrong with the Adventurer Motor?
It might be easier and less expensive to put the Trident internals in your Adventurer motor? That way all the external stuff will fit.
Those external parts are hard to find used, and very pricey if you buy them new.

it appears that a previous owner overtorqed the oil filter bolt(impact wrench maybe??). when I was going to replace filter, the bottom of the lower crankcase that the bolt screwed into broke off. have a rough uneven hole about size of 50 cent piece now. cant put filter in

I am thinking about replacing with a Black TBS Engine to get the extra power and 6 speed. then put the chrome engine covers on the Black TBS Engine

The extra power comes only from the TBS Exhaust.
Internally the TBS Motor and Adventurer motors are identical.
The shift pattern will also be reversed unless you also convert to the TBS foot controls.
Sounds like maybe the Adventurer motor could be fixed with just an oil pan replacement. I'd remove that first and check it out for sure.
