Hi, all. I'm a new member here, just having become the owner of a '95 Thunderbird. I just wanted to say that you have all been a great help at assisting me in choosing this bike and figuring out it's foibles so far.
While out on my first shakedown cruise with the wife yesterday, we pulled into a gas station with a friend on his 2008 Harley custom (aprox $30,000). We climbed off our bikes and started to gas up when an Iowa Cadillac (Ford F-250) pulled along side our bikes. The driver rolled down his window and yelled in our direction "Nice bike! What year is that Triumph?" I told him 1995 and he said "Sure is a beauty!", rolled up his window and drove off. I sorta felt bad for my friend.

I'm sure I'll be asking the requisite stupid questions of any newbie, so thanks in advance.

Welcome Banjo, you've got the worlds best bike and the best one Triumph of any era ever made. Mark you the 98 red/black is better than the '95 !

I know how you friend feels, I had parked my brand new CB1300 next to my friends 01 Adventurer and a couple of people came upto my friend and started talking about his bike. To add matters worse one of them even leaned on my bike whilst looking at his ! Your friend had better get used to it.

You'll find all sorts of good info for your bike on this forum.

Ride on !

banjohack, welcome to the forum and congrats on your T-Bird. Yeah, get used to the attention and questions you'll be getting from now on.

Another 95 t-bird in Iowa...

Welcome to the group. Hope you made it through the flooding okay.

I have a 95 T-bird purchased three years ago with 1400 miles, now has 18K and going strong. It does have a few foibles but is a great bike and draws lots of comments. Let me know if you have questions - I may have already asked them here or have some ideas from my experiences so far.

Thanks for the responses, guys.
As for the flood, I managed to be on high ground, but I did go into the mess to help a co-worker clean out his house. He had 5 feet of water in the ground floor of his one story house. He lost everything.
I'd have answered back sooner, but I've been getting my old commuting ride (86 GS450 Suzuki) ready to sell. I took one last ride on it last night and couldn't believe how much I've gotten used to the power of the Thunderbird.
I've also been finding out the joys of carb removal on the TB, since the 13 year old fuel line decided to split and dump about half a gallon of fuel on the garage floor. The designer of that intake system should be severely reprimanded! Next is figuring out why none of the guage lights come on and replacing the bars. I know I'll get this thing whipped into shape!
