What screw/bolt do I need? 1998 TBS

Hey all,

I want to install the Triumph Sissy bar to my TBS. I seem to have 3 of the 4 screws that I need to install it. Does anyone know what type of screws I need and where I can get them? I tried a 5/16 1 1/4 long screw with 18 thread. No good.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!!!!!!

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I would guess that any screws that would be needed would be metric.

If you have 3 of the 4 needed, are they all the same?

Yes they are... I tried to match them at the hardware store, but had no luck. I was hoping also to be able to buy the "official"Triumph part so that they all look the same.

Jack - a Triumph dealer should be able to identify the bolts required just from a description of the accessory.

Jack,

I had a nasty time putting my sissy bar/luggage rack on, as the holes were not drilled correctly, and I had to redrill them oversized to fit. I stripped one of the bolts trying to lean it into the hole, but was able to get a stainless steel replacement at Ace Hardware. Do yourself a favor, and use neverseize or some other good thread lube, especially if you are using any stainless fasteners, as these gall really easily. Stainless bolts also shear off their heads pretty easily, so be cautious. My passengers like the backrest, and my Dillon Reloading bag fits perfectly on the luggage rack, so I think that you will really like it once you've got it together.
