Hi folks, have just bought a 2003 thunderbird sport and wondered.........

the lights have no on/off switch, which can't do the battery much good before she starts up, it looks as though theres a blank on the rh switch gear, is fitting a switch, possible, easy??

could really use a grab rail, and/or a rack, but Triumph's ain't cheap! does anyone else make one for the sport?

is it possible to buy/fit a centre stand or if not is there a good paddock stand available??

Thanks Pete

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
No on-off switch is correct for that year. Yes you can get them with a switch (UK spec for earlier years), ease of fitting would depend on whether they changed the main wiring harness when they dropped that switch in the UK.

Look at www.sprintmanufacturing.co.uk for aftermarket grab rails etc.

There is no official centerstand for the 2000-on Thunderbird Sport. However a 1998 / 1999 one can be made to fit (or so I am told). Making it fit involves modifying the actuating arm so that it misses the left hand exhaust. Got a welder?

Try also Renntec for a grabrail www.renntec.co.uk

I have a feeling that Sprint sell the Renntec stuff.

I dragged this thread up because it neatly covers two points in one for me.

I've spent all day grovelling under my bike trying to make the new 98/99 TBS centre stand fit my 2000 TBS. The arm does foul the l/h pipe but that's only the start of it. The crossover pipe fouls on the stand stops under the sump, I've removed nearly enough metal to let the pipes go where they should. Now the return spring won't swing between the pivot bolt and the l/h exhaust, it's going to need repositioned. One way or the other I have to make this work, I'm off round Norway with my wife in August and I want to be able to remove the wheels and fix a puncture if I have to. If anyone has actually done this job I'd be glad to know how you did it.

grab rail for T'bird or TBS: I have the tubular chrome Triumph one available very cheap to a good home. I've fitted the backrest/rack as a permanent feature so have no further need for the grabrail. There's a picture of it on my bike in mugshots, page 75.

also available dirt cheap: pair of yellow TBS side panels complete with badges but no grommets.
