96 Adventurer ticking noise

Okay, listen to my Cafeturer one day and I think it´s time to check valve clearanses.
Check all valves thorougness and they are all in specs.
I´m little worry about this thicking sound and I think it´s better to inspect also cam chain /chain tensioner.
Remove a tensioner, check spring etc. and put it back. Pulling lightly that plunger to contact with the tensioned blade, IT´S COME OUT WHOLE LENGHT (you can see that above when valve cover is removed) before chain is tight.
What that means, is it possible that cam chain is so stretched or tensioned blade is worn-out. Bike has only 13000km on clock, runs really fine, but that NOISE ? !

Yes, I know these bikes are noisy but this is different and more than before.

I cant believe that the cam chain is worn out at so little klm's. My bike has done 120,000, and I'm just thinking maybe I should replace the cam chain in the intrest of reliability.Possibly it has a broken guide or tensioner.

Cam chain tensioner plunger

Does anybody know, how much that tensioner plunger should be stick out. I measure that and it comes 40mm (22 click) out from tensioner body.
It takes all 22 click before the chain contact to tensioned guide blade and still can move a chain 1-2mm withdraw a guide blade.
Sh*t, it looks at I must replace chain and/or guide blade and not trying to wriggle out of this problem.

Does anyone make cam chain tensioner extenders? I also own a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad FI. The Nomad's are notorious for excessive stretching of the cam chain so someone started making cam chain tensioner extenders for it. I installed one on my Nomad and it works great.

Maybe someone with some machining abilities could make one for these triples as well?

my cam chain was worn out at 20,000 miles. With all the tensioner travel used up, I had a clicking noise from the slack in the chain between the cam sprockets. The chain was so worn it was not meshing with the teeth correctly, hence the nosie.

I had to change the chain. but at least on a triple it is an easy job to do.

Thanks guys
I did order a new chain on this morning. I hope that help me solved this problem.
What Slinky saying, it confirm that suspicion what I has, chain is streched.

Just remove old chain, tensioner and guide blade. Tensioner works normally, guide blade is like new, only a chain remain which can be worn out. Check also a camsaft sprockets, they are both excellent condition.

Iīm still little amazed, month ago I meet one guy who was drive 94000km his Legend and still going original chain.

Anyway, I hope that new chain help, if not, donīt know what to do.
